Health and fitness tips

My Favorite "Simple" Health and Fitness TIPS:

  • Curb your sweet-tooth: Especially at night-choose fruit instead of candy or chips. Making better choices during the day helps cravings

  • Have a fitness friend: A workout buddy is huge and really helps make you accountable! If the people around you aren't like minded it will make you goals much more difficult. If this is you, find me. I will help keep you focused!

  • Always be prepared: Planning ahead isn't not always fun or easy but it's essential to your success. Keep healthy snacks on hand: Kind bars, Quest bars, almonds, seeds etc.

  • Remove the temptations: This is a biggy! Until your tastebuds change (and they will!!) you need to steer clear of your weaknesses. Get them out of your home, avoid them at the office and grocery. Trust me on this one :-)

  • Eat smaller portions & more often: (The 21 day fix is perfect to instill this way of eating). You need fuel - the right fuel - but that's an additional challenge. You can not funtion without food but eating too much can weigh you down and reduce productivity.

  • East clean: This is a proper fuel. What is clean? Well it's as close to nature as possible. Don't go out and start munching on your grass or anything but really just avoid the fake and packaged stuff. If you are new to this start slow: remove some of the boxed stuff once in a while and cook a fresh meal and go from there. This takes so much time to master and nobody is perfect but you will do your body much justice by removing whatever processed foods and un-natural foods you can.

  • Picked your favorite tunes and just move: Clean your house, dance while in the shower or brushing your teeth, go for a walk, pace when talking on the phone, take the stairs....seriously it all adds up. Just move-that simple.

  • Pick a challenge and go for: Whether you are new to a healthy life or a trained athlete nodody is too good for a challenge. Shoot to do a 5k, make a goal for the number of jumping jacks you can do in a minute or reaching for a number of pushups, Make a goal with weights, make a goal with the number of steps in a day. Make a goal to not sit down once for an entire day-with the exception of breakfast, lunch and dinner. How about a goal of pur healthy foods for 1 week or no sugar for a week. All goals improve our motivation and focus no matter how big or small...we start where we start. What matters is that you chose to do it!!

  • Drink lots of water-H2O-the good stuff-I repeat drink lots of water: There is nothing more important for the body than water and you need ALOT of it! Avoid soda and sugary drinks and drink water instead. Add lemon, flavored stevia, fruit etc if you need to but just drink it. I carry a 20 oz insulated water bottle everywhere I go, literally. It's a great way to keep track of how much I've had and always have it with me.
